I’m sorry that I haven’t been posting this earlier; I hope you’ll still find it interesting though. I think you should know that I’m not usually writing about rabbits (especially not my own) in English, therefore some terms or words may sound weird and out of place.
The first one I’d like to present to you is my most beloved Benjamin Breeg, or Benne as he’s sometimes called.
Benjamin Breeg is a cross between a lot of breeds, for example Belgian hare, Swedish hare and Britannia petite. I agreed to take care of him in February 2009 after an incident where he and eleven other (tame) rabbits were released in the woods to survive by themselves. The one to blame for this were an official from the “society for the prevention of cruelty to animals” (I believe she lost her job after this incident).
I gave him the name of an Iron Maiden song (and album) and the young rabbit, only 12 weeks old by the time he came to me, soon became the center of everybody’s attention. This is, I assure you, a very witty rabbit who loves attention more than anything else. His speciality is moving things around and turn them over to show off, and the more you laugh, the more he will try to drag the haysack around the floor or make high noises by knocking shovels and other loose things down. I don’t know how many times he’s been close to smash the window with the stick of the broom while dragging it around at the floor.
When I had owned Benjamin for a little more than two years, a friend of mine managed to find his breeder, who was very happy to hear that he was still alive, and she could tell me all of the things that until then had been unknown to me, like his exact birthday, how many siblings he had and his full pedigree. I was very happy that day. :)
Benjamin and I also have one thing that we both enjoy very much, and that is Rabbit show jumping. Benjamin showed a lot of talent for this only a few weeks after his arrival, and we’ve been training and competing since then. Next show jumping event is on Sunday, it’ll be the first competition for us this year, and I’m really looking forward to it! :)
I’ll leave you with some pictures of my little rabbit friend, and I promise I shall return soon with some more presentations of my other rabbits. :)
